It is fifty years this year since the Pécs TV Tower was awarded the title of the tallest building in Hungary in 1973. It stands at the top of the 535-metre-high Misina in Mecsek.
With the arrival of the autumn months, it’s time to get out our dusty hiking boots and climb the country’s tallest building.
It offers a stunning panorama for everyone!
An easy, short hike can recharge you physically and mentally. Starting from the city centre, it takes an hour and a half to reach the top of the tower, which rises almost 400 metres. In addition to the amazing views, the building’s restaurant is one of the favourite places for hikers in Pécs.

Exciting facts about the tower
The tower’s lighting was also started in the 1970s, but unfortunately it stopped, and in August 2017 it was lit up again in the evenings until today.
Since its opening, the lookout has had 200,000 visitors a year, and nowadays 80,000 a year.
It has a three-and-a-half-metre thick concrete base, twenty-two metres in diameter, reinforced by a multi-layered steel mesh. The tower consists of a double ring, inside which the lift is built. It has 459 stairs.
