Nala, a cane corso dog, disappeared in Pécs on 31 December 2023 and was found hiding at the ruins of Kantavár in Mecsek after a 17-day search.
The people who found the dog did not accept the 500,000 HUF reward, so the owners donated the money to the Pécs Rescue Dog Association.
Nala’s owners even set up a Facebook group called „Let’s search for Nala”, where they offered a 500 thousand HUF cash reward to anyone who finds the lost dog.
Many people participated in the search for Nala. In the group, a map was posted almost daily, so that everyone could see who was looking for the animal that day and where. In the past weeks, owners, family members, friends, even animal rescuers and finally almost the whole of Pécs have been searching for Nala.
It’s hard to put into words the joy and gratitude we felt when we found out that so many people were willing to help.

The stray animal was eventually found by two gentlemen who immediately informed the owners, but the reward money was not accepted.
The dog’s owners are extremely grateful for the selflessness and goodwill of these two gentlemen and those who helped in the search for Nala. Therefore, the 500.000 HUF prize money was donated to the Pécs Rescue Dog Association.
The dog has lost 10 kilos, but is doing well and is happy to be back home.
