The University of Pécs Art and Design students, painting and sculpture students and people with intellectual disabilities will exhibit their works in the Kemence Gallery of the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter – announced the Take My Hand Foundation, which supports people with disabilities.
For eight years now, the organisation’s adult beneficiaries with intellectual disabilities and students of painting and sculpture have been taking part in the Art Brut seminar every semester, where they create paintings together.
The collaboration provides an opportunity for people with disabilities to develop their artistic expression and to benefit from a therapeutic process through art. During the seminars, the Foundation’s clients can also learn technical skills, while the participating painting students can learn about art therapy through collaborative creation.
For university students, the opportunity is an important way of creating a new perspective, as it gives them the chance to meet people with disabilities and create together – said the Foundation in a statement.
The exhibition, entitled „Intertwining Worlds – Art Brut”, is open free of charge from Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm until 10 November.
