What exactly is the Mohács mourning procession?
It is a spring festival, a winter folk tradition that originates from the carnival masquerade and dramatic folk tradition of the mostly Roman Catholic southern Slavs, the Socaci, who live in and around Mohács. It is also known as poklade, the Croatian equivalent of the word ‘carnival’.
