We quickly add: if the weather is kind to skating lovers. In any case, according to unofficial information from Pécs Aktuál, the opening of the Pécs Skating Rink is scheduled for tomorrow on 17 November. Hurray!
This October was the third warmest since 1901, so we could not have expected the opening of the ice rink on 23 October as we once did (older people may remember that this was the date of the beginning of the ice-skating season )
But now, thanks to the cooler weather, PSN Zrt. colleagues can start making ice for this season.
Now, ice sports fans will have to wait just one more day before the ice rink in Pécs opens on Saturday.
Ice making starts below 10 degrees.
-Although this time last year, skating lovers could already slide on the rink. But for now, we have to wait for tomorrow. The reason is that the current system cannot make ice of sufficient quality in mild weather, and the operator is unlikely to risk producing and maintaining a sloppy surface at these overheads – we wrote earlier.
We understand that the air needs to cool down significantly at night, and during the day it is unlikely to go above 10-12 degrees Celsius to freeze the water that is poured onto the ice rink.
The opening hours are the same as before:
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 09:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 16:00,
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00
Ticket prices are similar to last year – at least, that’s what we found on the rink’s website.
- adult tickets will cost 1500 HUF
- student and retired tickets will cost 1100 HUF for three hours
- children aged 4-6 will be charged 750 forints.
The exact date of opening may vary depending on the weather.
