Friday 13th october is one of the unluckiest days of the year. But where does this myth come from? What do we do to avoid the possibility of bad luck?
Floor, house number and seat legend
We’re so afraid of the number 13 that some hotels don’t have rooms with the number 13. The number 13 is also left out of the floors of buildings, but even on airplanes the number 13 is missing.
They even named a phobia after it
Those who suffer from this phobia do not like to plan a major event for this day and try to avoid „dangerous” situations throughout the day, such as not crossing zebra. However, there are also those of us who do not even leave the house all day, in case the worst happens. This is what we call peasant necrophobia.
Do more accidents really happen on this day?
A German study has shown that Friday 13th is not just a day when more accidents happen on the roads, but a day when far less accidents happen. Could this be due to drivers driving more carefully out of fear?
Attention superstitious! Friday 13th can only happen three times a year!
Friday 13 is not a day of bad luck everywhere
In Latin America, Spain and Greece, Tuesday 13th is considered the unluckiest day, rather than Friday 13th, and the Italian people avoid black cats on Friday 17th.
Elsewhere, the number 13 is lucky
In some countries, such as Israel, the number is considered lucky. Young boys hold their so-called bar-micvo at 13 to celebrate their coming of age.
In the Christian view
Superstition is a handhold for unexpected situations. For believers, it is a joke. In a more serious sense, superstition is a sin against the first commandment and the virtue of religion, from which the Church seriously warns their followers.
